Amanda Wong-Jensen received her nidan rank (2nd degree black belt) directly from Tsutomu Ohshima. She started karate practice at the Chelsea NY dojo In 1993.
My seniors at Chelsea Dojo were Chris Hale, Maurice Baker and Errol Bennett. In 1998, I became a serious practitioner with my promotion to Shodan. A few years later, in 2001, I started training under Nachum Sicherman and Ran Cohen at the Columbia University dojo. My Nidan rank was earned in 2005. Shortly thereafter, I moved to western NY., where regular practice became a bit of a challenge as I was now a 6 hour drive from NYC. I went back to train as often as possible. In 2016 I started a kids practice. Three years in, we are now in a new space and offering all levels practice. We are still a good distance from NYC, Pittsburgh, Toronto, etc., But in our larger facility, we look forward to welcoming our fellow SKA practitioners.”
